Join us for Advocacy Hours!

ICBM's Day at the Capitol will continue this year in a virtual format. Members will have access to state legislative leadership through two Advocacy Hour sessions, planned for Tuesday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, March 15. Both sessions will be held virtually from 4:30 to 5:45 pm, making it easy to attend from your office.

If you participated in one of last year’s Advocacy Hours, you heard bankers speak to their lawmakers about:
  • How the recent spate of credit unions buying banks puts rural customers at risk of losing access to credit.
  • The job-saving impact of community bankers’ Paycheck Protection Program lending.
  • The potential negative impact to small businesses of the state’s decision to not conform with the federal government’s exemptions on PPP expenses. (By the way, your input was pivotal in getting lawmakers to understand that changing course was the right thing to do!)
  • How community bankers are committed to helping customers work through problems and any proposed change to farmer-lender mediation would hinder a working process.
  • The challenges rural banks face attracting and retaining talent.

All ICBM members are encouraged to attend. Make sure state lawmakers hear directly from you — the economic first responders who are most impacted by their policies.

Minnesota Commerce Commissioner Grace Arnold has been invited to address our group this year. Additionally, Senate Commerce Chair Gary Dahms (R-Redwood Falls) and House Commerce Chair Zack Stephenson (DFL-Coon Rapids), will speak and take your questions.

Block your calendars NOW to attend one or both ICBM Advocacy Hour sessions, and watch for agenda updates as the dates approach.
